"Barefoot in the Park"
July & August 2011

Cast

Kim Hentges - (Corie Bratter) Kim is tickled pink to be playing Corie, a role she has been perfecting for the last 10½ years happily married to her wonderful and talented husband, Matt. Kim has previously been onstage here in Parkville several times, most recently as Alice in You Can’t Take It With You and as Emily in Our Town with The Bell Road Barn Players, as well as Enchanted April with Park University. She has been acting for over 16 years, some of her favorite roles have included Anne Frank in The Diary of Anne Frank, Jo March in Little Women, Ann Deever in All My Sons, Elvira in Blithe Spirit and Laura in The Glass Menagerie. Kim is the mother of two beautiful children Audrey and Leo with whom she hopes to be re-united with in the fall when she has some free time. She wishes to thank her family for their continuous unconditional love and support.
Brandon Stevens - (Paul Bratter) Barefoot in the Park marks Brandon’s second show with the Bell Road Barn Players. Earlier this summer, he played Kenny Norman in Proposals, and prior to this show, he played Ares, god of war, for Gorilla Theatre’s Seven Against Thebes. This show has always been one of his favorite Neil Simon comedies, and he is very grateful to be a part of this production. Special thanks to the cast/crew, his director, and to the audiences who support theatre.
Joyce Halford - (Ethel Banks) Joyce Halford has been acting at Bell Road since she was a teenager, more than a few years ago. Some favorite Bell Road roles include M’Lynn in “Steel Magnolias”, Chris in “Rumors”, Mrs. Webb in “Our Town”, and Julia in “Lend Me a Tenor.” You may have seen her in last season’s “Black Comedy” as Miss Furnival. Joyce has also done some directing at Bell Road and has served on the Board of Directors for over 25 years. Joyce wants to thank Matt Hentges for his insightful direction and support and wants to thank this wonderfully talented cast and crew. And thank YOU for coming to our show!
David Meachum - (Victor Velasco) David is very happy to be returning to the Park University stage for another summer. You may remember him from last year’s production of “And Then There Were None” (Spoiler alert: he DID it). He has been performing with The Bell Road Barn Players since 1982 and has performed in many area theatres for many years after that. David would like to thank his awesome and amazing wife Sharon for her constant support and love. Enjoy the show!
Tim Phillips- (Harry Pepper "phone guy") Tim is thrilled to be working with Matt once again after appearing in the Bell Road Barn production of "You Can't Take it With You" last summer. Tim recently played Jack Brennan in "Frost/Nixon" this June at the Barn Players and you may recognize him as Johnny Holiday, tour guide for the Kansas City Gangster Tour or as Ackbar from the Feaste of Fooles at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival.
Michael Newburger- (Delivery Man) Mike has been involved with the Bell Road Barn since 1968, when Jenkin coerced him into coming out for a 'fun' summer of painting sets! He ended up being in that production of "Midsummer's Night Dream" and he was hooked for life. He has been on the Board of the BRB for over 3 decades, and worked as a 'gofer' with the organization. He loves playing bit parts, and is very pleased to have a small role in this production.

Matt Hentges - (Director) Matt is very pleased to be working with Bell Road Barn again. Last summer he directed “You Can’t Take it With You” on this stage. Matt has been doing community theatre in KC now for the last 10 years – both on and off stage - acting, directing, and the occasional tech work. He would like to thank his parents, in-laws and siblings for all of their support; his wonderful children Audrey & Leo for their patience and love and his beautiful wife Kim for never failing to amaze him. You can see Matt’s next project this coming fall at the Rivers Edge Theatre in the River Market where he will be directing Neil Labute’s “The Mercy Seat” for She & Her Productions.

Kelly Lipovitz - (Asst. Direcor/Stage manager) Kelly is excited to be working on her second production with the Bell Road Barn. When not pursuing her love of Kansas City theatre, Kelly is a full time teacher at Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City, KS. She would like to thank Matt for once again giving her the chance to work with such an amazing cast on this wonderful show!
